Adult Education
Zion UCC offers several different Christian Education experiences – choose one or two depending on your interests!
The Sunday Morning Book Group meets at 9:00 AM in the church library. This group is a lively and inquiring discussion of progressive people. They have read and discussed several different books this year, including Saving Jesus from the Church and Misquoting Jesus. The members of the Sunday Morning Book Group are presently embarking on a study of the history of “end times” in scripture and popular literature. If you want to join in, call the church office for a copy of their present book or just show up on Sunday!
Topics of Interest is a new Sunday School class at Zion. Throughout the year, it will explore different areas of inquiry pertinent to a life of faith. Each class will meet in the fellowship hall from 9:00 to 9:30 Sunday morning. Each “exploration” will be completed in four Sundays.
Coffee with Scripture takes place on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. at Digger’s Rest Coffee Shop on Jefferson Street. Led by Pastor Jane, it is an enthusiastic and not-so-traditional discussion of the lectionary text. Get a cup of coffee and join us!
Tuesday Night Bible Study led by Pastor Jane meets at the church at 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays and enjoys a spirited exploration of the bible. Lately, participants have been reading the lectionary but other ideas are always welcome. Grab your bible and join us!
Women’s Book Group meets on the second Thursday of most months at 7:00 p.m. It is a gathering that combines community and fellowship with a love of literature. This group reads a different work of fiction each month – selections are thought-provoking, challenging, funny and always interesting. Everyone is welcome!
