The Rev. Jane Willan
"When I left Boston to come to Iowa my friends thought I was crazy.
But now I tell them that they would love it here." Jane Willan
After completing a successful career as a science writer and editor in Boston, Pastor Jane was ordained in 2003 by the Rhode Island Conference of the United Church of Christ. When she left for her first parish in Creston, Iowa, Pastor Jane remembers, "I packed my tiny car with all my belongings and huge dog, Adidas (100 pounds), and drove west for three days." Once in Creston, she served a thriving parish for the next six years. She left Creston to come to Burlington in 2009 as the pastor of Zion United Church of Christ.
"Zion is a pastor's dream church – filled with energy, generosity, and desire to do what is right."
Jane was featured in the June 13, 2010 issue of The Hawk Eye with a story about receiving the 2010 Belva Duncan Excellence Award from the Iowa Conference of the United Church of Christ.
Pastor Jane lives in Burlington with her husband, Don, and their two dogs, Maggie and Moses. She likes to read fiction (favorite author
s: John Irving and Barbara Kingsolver), write fiction (so far unpublished), watch movies, drink coffee with friends, go for long walks with Don and run.
