YOUR JOURNEY?

Let’s start the JOURNEY! Let us help you find your path! Searching for God is the greatest and important JOURNEY any of us can go on. It is indeed a JOURNEY – after all, none of us have all the answers when it comes to God, so we all have places to explore and grow. Each of us is coming from a unique place with different experiences. We don’t have to have everything figured out to JOURNEY with God. Zion is a safe place for worship, where questions may be pondered, truth sought, God encountered. We are open to questions. Ask any question and know that you are in a place that values the question, as well as the seeker who asks. Worship Services at Zion are driven by our vision of welcoming and including all of God’s children. We wholeheartedly welcome God’s children of all ages to be a part of worship. Wigglers, gigglers, and wanderers are all welcome in God’s house.

WHO ARE WE?

We are a diverse, open and inclusive group of individuals from all walks of life, very much reflecting the community in which we live. We are people who may have been brought up in other faith traditions or none at all. We are people of different ages and styles of life. We are people of different races, including multi-racial families.Our families are different shapes and sizes and include singles, significant others, and those who have lost partners or spouses.Some of us have children, some of us don’t, some of us are children. We respect other faith traditions, and some of our families are interfaith. We are all over the map politically (but we are located in Burlington, IA!). We are free to wrestle theologically. We take care of each other.

WHAT WE BELIEVE?

We believe in an all-loving, inclusive, God, who is still speaking to us today. We are a church that welcomes and accepts everyone as they are, seeking to nourish both your mind and soul. Our faith is 2,000 years old. Our thinking is not. We believe in God’s continuing testament. This is why we are committed to hearing God’s ancient story anew and afresh in our lives and in the world today. We try to remain attentive to God’s creative movement in the world. Religion and science are not mutually exclusive, and your head and heart are both welcomed into our places of worship. We prepare our members and leaders to be engaged in ministry in the present and future church, and we embrace all kinds of communities and new modes of thinking. Why? Because God is still speaking, No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.
